Cardiac rehabilitation

Recovery, with people who get it.

Cardiac rehab is the single most underused therapy in cardiology — and one of the most powerful. Our 12-week program lowers re-hospitalization and adds years of healthy life, in a setting that feels more like a friendly gym than a hospital.

  • Stable angina or pulmonary hypertension
Conditions we treat

What we offer

Procedures and assessments

A focused, high-volume set of procedures — performed often and performed well, by the same senior team every time.

Baseline cardiopulmonary assessment

Six-minute walk, peak VO₂ where indicated, and a tailored exercise prescription.

Supervised exercise sessions

Three sessions per week with continuous ECG monitoring and physiotherapist guidance.

Education workshops

Nutrition, medications, stress, sleep and intimacy after a heart event — small groups, real questions.

Psychological support

On-site counseling because anxiety and depression after a cardiac event are common — and treatable.

Smoking cessation program

Evidence-based behavioural and pharmacological support that doubles long-term quit rates.

Technology

The tools we use, by name

The equipment behind this specific service — chosen because precise tools support precise decisions.

  • Telemetry ECG floor

Every patient is continuously monitored on a central station throughout each session.

  • Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET)

Peak VO₂ measurement to set precise, safe exercise zones.

  • Cosmed treadmills & Wattbike ergometers

Hospital-grade equipment built for graded prescription, not casual gym use.

  • Heart-rate-zone wearables

Patients leave each session knowing exactly what to do at home that week.

How to prepare

  • Bring trainers, loose clothing and a water bottle.
  • Bring your discharge summary and current medication list.
  • Eat a light meal 1–2 hours before — not on an empty stomach, not just after a big meal.
  • Take your normal cardiac medications unless told otherwise.
  • Tell us about any new symptoms before the session — never push through chest pain.

Recovery & aftercare

  • Personal exercise prescription

Heart-rate zones, weekly minutes and progression plan for home use.

  • Alumni programme

Optional drop-in sessions twice a month to keep the habit alive.

  • 6- and 12-month review

Repeat assessment to lock in gains and adjust medications as fitness improves.

"After my father's stent, the rehab team became part of our family's life. He's walking further now at 72 than he did at 60."

Why CAVA

Care that is precise — and personal

The same standards apply to every service we offer.

  • Board-certified specialists

Every study is read and every procedure performed by a fellowship-trained cardiologist or vascular surgeon — never an outsourced reader.

  • Same-day diagnostics

ECG, echo and duplex ultrasound on-site, with results explained in plain language before you leave the clinic.

  • Minimally invasive first

One named cardiologist follows you from first visit through recovery. No revolving door, no repeated histories.
