Specialist service

Vascular surgery

Healthier veins. Stronger arteries.

Modern vascular care rarely needs big incisions. With ultrasound-guided lasers, radiofrequency and tiny catheter tools, we treat everything from cosmetic spider veins to limb-threatening artery disease — often in our outpatient suite, in under an hour.

Who this is for

You'll benefit if…

  • Aching, heavy or bulging leg veins
  • Leg pain when walking that eases at rest (claudication)
  • Non-healing foot or ankle wounds
  • Personal or family history of DVT or pulmonary embolism
  • Carotid artery narrowing detected on screening
Conditions we treat

Common reasons patients are referred

  • Varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency
  • Deep-vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Carotid artery disease
  • Lymphoedema co-management
  • Non-healing leg ulcers
What we offer

Procedures and assessments

A focused, high-volume set of procedures — performed often and performed well, by the same senior team every time.

Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA)

A thin laser fiber seals faulty veins from the inside. Walk-in, walk-out, no scars.

Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy

Micro-injections that erase spider veins and small varicosities cosmetically.

Peripheral angioplasty & stenting

Catheter-based opening of blocked leg arteries to save mobility — and limbs.

DVT thrombolysis

Catheter-directed clot dissolution for acute deep-vein thrombosis when indicated.

Carotid revascularization

Stenting or endarterectomy to lower stroke risk from neck-artery narrowing.

Technology

The tools we use, by name

The equipment behind this specific service — chosen because precise tools support precise decisions.

  • Philips Affiniti vascular ultrasound

High-frequency duplex imaging for veins, arteries and carotid screening.

  • Biolitec / AngioDynamics EVLA lasers

1470 nm radial-fibre laser — gold-standard wavelength for vein ablation.

  • Medtronic ClosureFast RFA system

Segmental radiofrequency ablation, ideal for patients who prefer no laser.

  • Hybrid endovascular suite

C-arm fluoroscopy for peripheral angioplasty, atherectomy and carotid work.

Your journey

From first call to follow-through

1

Duplex ultrasound

A painless scan to map your vein and artery anatomy on the same day as your visit.

2

Procedure

Most vein procedures take 30–45 minutes under local anesthesia. You walk out wearing a compression stocking.

3

Recovery

Normal activity the next day. Cosmetic results continue to improve over 6–12 weeks.

How to prepare

  • Wear or bring loose trousers / a skirt for easy access to the legs.
  • Shave the leg(s) the night before if possible — not the same morning.
  • Eat normally; fasting is not required for most vein procedures.
  • Bring previous duplex reports if you've had one.
  • Arrange a driver if sedation is planned (most cases use local only).

Recovery & aftercare

  • Compression stocking

Worn for 1–2 weeks day & night, then daytime only — provided at discharge.

  • Walking protocol

Aim for 30 minutes' walking the same day — it speeds resolution and lowers DVT risk.

  • Two-week duplex check

Quick scan to confirm successful closure and rule out any superficial thrombus.

"I'd been hiding my legs since my thirties. Two short visits and the heaviness is gone — and so are the veins."

FAQs

Questions patients ask us

If yours isn't here, ask our team — we love a good question.

Will my veins come back?+

Treated veins do not return. New ones can form over time — we teach you how to keep them away.

Is laser ablation covered by insurance?+

Symptomatic varicose veins are typically covered. Purely cosmetic spider veins are not.

How soon can I fly?+

Short-haul: next day. Long-haul: we usually recommend waiting one week.

Why CAVA

The same standards apply to every service we offer.

  • Board-certified specialists

ECG, echo and duplex ultrasound on-site, with results explained in plain language before you leave the clinic.

  • Minimally invasive first

One named cardiologist follows you from first visit through recovery. No revolving door, no repeated histories.
